I met up with my mom at South Ken today to wander around the area and she got to see my room, in all its glory. I got my stuff ready to ship - holy huge shipping charge. I hope Nicole Cihock and Kyle Connelly better appreciate that they aren't going to get their presents in a month and a half...
I also took my mom by the Hummingbird Bakery and Ben's Cookies - so yummy :D I love hanging with my mom! :]
Then it was time for me to take my final. And I'm actually feeling pretty good about it. I guess we'll see.
Talk about perfect timing. When I finished my final, I called my mom to see if they were still in the British Museum so I could meet them there. They weren't in the museum, they were walking back towards the Centre. How fortuitous :]
Then it was off to the Tower. That was really cool.
Quick break for story time. The Purdue Study Abroad office had an orientation thing online - and one of the questions asked what the better souvenier would be: a journal, an arrest record or the Crown Jewels. I wanted the Crown Jewels :D
So, then I got to see them, and they were stunning. My mom and I were walking through and looking at the various crowns (I enjoyed the people movers - moving sidewalks :D ) and we wondered where the Imperial Crown of India was, so we asked an employee. It was right around the corner (of course O.o ) and he also told us some stuff about it. When King George V was crowned in 1911, he wasn't just a King, he was an Emperor. India wanted him to come be crowned in India too. However, none of the Royal Regala is allowed to leave the UK, so wealthy Indians donated gems and they made the Imperial Crown of India for the King. It was only ever worn that once. And it's got something like 6000+ diamonds. Craziness.
There was a game in the gift shop - Steal the Crown Jewels! I wanted it :D
Next up came dinner. I ordered peppermint tea and surprised my mom - I didn't really like tea before but the pepermint tea was really good. I also tried her wine and my dad's beer - she took pictures and said I was growing up :]
Wow, the views from the Eye were beautiful. We were even up there when the lights came on The Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. It was awesome! I even almost forgot how high up I was...
Nicole and I are back to watching Kim Possible - we've run out of tv shows on DVD. I really hope we stay in touch after this summer.
Tomorrow Nicole and I are meeting my family to see the Changing of the Guard and it's now 1.42 in the morning - I really need to start getting to sleep earlier again. School should be a fun adjustment...
Till then,
-Carly
